The early middle ages cover approximately AD 500 to 1000 and the High Middle Ages the period in between. In architecture, many of the most notable Gothic cathedrals were built or completed during the the High Middle Ages. People were very religious in medieval times going to church daily and the church or cathedral was the center of daily life, however life itself took on less Christian aspects and the medieval world was one of savage brutality.

While not as protective as armor, chain mail attire did provide a greater amount of flexibility in spite of the dangers of weapon penetrations. It was highly prized by warriors even though it was weighty as well. Today’s Medieval recreations are ideally suited for display and reenactments, whether in the field, in parades, or on stage. They’re lighter weight but highly durable.
